Frequently asked questions about our subscription model and the benefits of choosing our clinic.
At Arizona Internists, our subscription model is designed to put patient-centered care back in the spotlight. With a low monthly membership fee, our patients gain direct access to their doctor without the traditional barriers of the insurance-based healthcare system. This approach reduces wait times for appointments, minimizes the need for urgent care or emergency room visits, and empowers patients and doctors to prioritize what truly matters during visits—free from the constraints of insurance coverage.
Our subscription-based care offers an alternative to the challenges of traditional, insurance-driven healthcare. With long wait times, unpredictable costs, and limited appointment flexibility being all too common, we’ve created a system where the focus is on you. By eliminating insurance intermediaries, we can provide comprehensive, personalized care that puts your health first.
The primary benefit is simple: your doctor is there for you when you need them. Membership at Arizona Internists includes:
Our smaller patient panel allows us to dedicate more time to each individual, addressing concerns early and helping to avoid unnecessary urgent care or ER visits. This proactive approach fosters better health outcomes and peace of mind.
Absolutely! At Arizona Internists, we believe healthcare shouldn’t be reactive—only addressing problems when they arise. Our model allows us to partner with you in optimizing your health through regular check-ins, extended visits, and a focus on prevention. Whether it’s improving sleep, exercise, diet, or stress management, we’re here to help you live your healthiest life.
No, as Internal Medicine physicians, we are licensed to provide primary care services for adults 18 years and older.
While your membership covers primary care services, hospitalizations, surgeries, and specialist care are not included. For these services, we assist in coordinating care and providing referrals to trusted specialists.
Yes, as a member of Arizona Internists, you have direct after-hours access to your physician for urgent concerns. You will receive an after-hours phone line to address issues that cannot or should not wait until the next morning. While routine matters are best managed during regular office hours, urgent needs can be promptly addressed via phone or virtual consultation when necessary.
For any medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. For urgent but non-life-threatening issues, you may contact our after-hours line for guidance.
We value patient feedback. If you have suggestions, feedback, or a concern, please contact our office directly, and we will work to address it. Your input helps us improve our services and enhance patient care.
Under our subscription model, we don’t bill insurance or Medicare for appointments, calls, texts, or telehealth visits—everything is covered under your monthly membership fee. That means no co-pays or hidden fees when you visit your doctor. Patients can still use their insurance or Medicare plans for labs, imaging, specialist visits, and emergencies, ensuring you get the most from your healthcare coverage.
The monthly fee includes most primary care services. However, services performed by other companies such as lab work , imaging, and specialist referrals, will involve additional costs. We work with trusted partners to secure reduced rates, and any costs outside the membership are communicated transparently.
After-hours support is included in your membership with Arizona Internists, so there is no additional fee outside regular hours. While routine matters are best handled during regular office hours, urgent needs can be addressed by phone or virtual consultation when necessary.
The use of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for membership fees depends on individual plan restrictions. We recommend checking with your HSA or FSA provider to confirm whether funds can be applied to your membership at Arizona Internists.
Yes, you’ll still need insurance for specialist visits, emergencies, and services like lab tests and imaging. Your membership with Arizona Internists complements your existing insurance plan by providing direct access to your doctor without co-pays or additional fees for primary care services. If major health problems arise, we’ll guide you through the system and coordinate your care.
This membership is not health insurance, nor is it a substitute for insurance. The membership covers only the healthcare services specified in our agreement. We recommend that you maintain insurance coverage for medical services. It does not qualify as an insurance plan under state or federal law.
Absolutely. Membership with Arizona Internists works seamlessly with Medicare and private insurance plans. You’ll continue using your insurance for labs, imaging, specialist visits, and hospital care while enjoying the personalized, hassle-free experience of direct access to your primary care doctor.
Some Medicare Advantage plans may require in-network providers to order referrals. Since we do not bill Medicare, we are considered an out-of-network provider. If your plan requires an in-network provider for referrals, we can help you find one while still being a member at Arizona Internists. Be sure to check with your plan for specific requirements.
Patients with high-deductible plans often pay out of pocket for most of their healthcare costs if they are generally healthy. Membership with Arizona Internists allows you to budget your medical spending and avoid surprise bills. You also won’t incur additional costs for follow-up visits or addressing ongoing health concerns.
In addition, we’ve negotiated discounted rates for lab work and imaging for our members. This can lead to significant savings for those with high-deductible insurance plans.
If you are on a Medicare plan, you’ll need to sign a one-time waiver stating that neither you nor Arizona Internists will bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover laboratory tests, imaging, medications, and hospitalizations prescribed by our office.
